Ongoing path maintenance
In addition to seeking funding for major mountain track repairs the Nevis Partnership also undertakes essential path maintainenance on 10 kilometres of mountain paths. We are grateful for the help the Highland Council wardens and John Muir Trust volunteers give us and we are now looking at ways of extending our capability in this area, including utilising work parties made up of our Friends of Nevis volunteers.
Our work in this area has now taken a new turn following the appointment of our own full time Footpath Consultant/Specialist at the end of 2008. Having an expert on the ground, so to speak, has been of huge benefit as we are now able to address maintenance, repair and other issues very swiftly. Specifications are now being drawn up for a number of path jobs and our volunteer work parties are a regular feature during the summer months.
