Path Maintenance Support Project
A number of activities have now been arranged that link to the summit path project. These include:
• Monitoring the screes to establish the current level of lichen and moss coverage and to monitor any increase over time which will indicate how effective the re-defined path is protecting the habitat. This work is being carried out under the supervision of Scottish Natural Heritage.
• John Muir Trust volunteer work parties who regularly maintain the summit path by clearing litter and undertaking general path maintenance.
• Establishing a volunteer and local businesses Friends of Nevis group to actively engage in the management and maintenance of the Nevis area. You can find out more about Friends of Nevis by taking a look at their website here
• Producing comprehensive information leaflets and related publicity materials to facilitate an environmentally aware, responsible and safe enjoyment of the Nevis area.
